MS. MCPEAK: The California Emerging Technology Fund has drawn upon all of the research and all the reports that we could find to date in California and across the country, and in fact around the world. And we found that the definition that is most appropriate is one that has now been used by the state of California:

Digital literacy is the ability to access, manage, integrate, create and communicate information with using computing devices, a computer or a digital handheld device, and also being able to navigate the internet. So it is the ability to use what are today’s common tools for being connected to one another and accessing information, but are increasingly important for workers in this digital age.
