California Wins Top Government Website Award
In a survey of state government websites, Juggle.com, a website that provides information on hundreds of thousands of the web's most popular topics and products, has awarded California a Top Government Website Award. The award recognizes California for excellence in web design and services.
The newly redesigned Web portal, CA.gov was launched on June 2, 2010 with enhanced search capabilities to make services and information easier than ever to find. The portal includes a new mobile site with more than 40 applications designed for smart phones and searchable maps with data on thousands of state government facilities including field offices, state parks, public schools, universities, libraries hospitals and more.
The Juggle.com survey credited California for its "extremely well-designed and feature-rich" state website. "The sheer amount of data provided throughout the portal is astonishing, and the integration with Google Fusion tables provides fast and easy manipulation of the data." stated the survey.
Juggle.com reviewed all fifty state websites to determine how each site applies web technology to serve its citizens. Calling the CA.gov site "incredibly useful and usable," the survey named California as one of the top government websites.
The CA.gov portal links to interactive features, including widgets, social networking websites, news, and information provided by state agencies. The site provides access to more than 4 million pages of information, services, and online transactions. Some of the features include:
