Gregory Franklin Appointed as Health IT Deputy Director at Technology Agency

Gregory Franklin of Folsom has been appointed as deputy director of Health Information Technology for the California Technology Agency. As deputy director, he will work with state and local entities to establish standards and develop policies for health information technology and exchanges to better serve all Californians. Greg will also work to align California with federal technology mandates specific to Health Information Exchanges, Medicaid expansions, Electronic Health Records and other critical requirements meant to ensure a modernized health care delivery system for California.

Greg has more than 25 years of experience in health care administration and public health. He previously served as deputy director for health care operations at the Department of Health Care Services. Prior to serving at Health Care Services he served as assistant executive officer at CalPERS where he oversaw the purchase of health services for 1.3 million members and a budget of $5.9 billion. From 2002 to 2007 he served as deputy director of Health Information and Strategic Planning at the Department of Health Services.

Greg also currently serves in the United States Air Force Reserve as a health services administrator assigned to Travis Air Force Base California.
