IT Employment
The California Technology Agency in partnership with the State Personnel Board (SPB) is creating Open Continuous Online testing for Information Technology (IT) Classifications within the state. Given the anticipated hiring needs within the next few years, the current testing process no longer fits the state's IT resource needs. Current testing processes are time consuming, costly, and do not allow the state to take advantage of recruiting talent as it becomes available. Creating Open Continuous Online testing not only allows current state employees real-time testing opportunities, but also opens testing to untapped candidate pools and by doing so;
- Allows applicants to test and apply for positions 24/7
- Creates a larger pool of qualified candidates
- Allows the best candidate to be hired for the right position
The California Technology Agency is implementing these recruitment changes in order to be more competitive both now and in the future. We are excited with the accomplishments made through the collaborative efforts with the State Personnel Board and the individual departments within the state. Creating Open Continuous Online testing allows the state to recruit talented IT staff - putting the right talent, in the right job, at the right time.
The exam development would not be possible without the commitment of the participating departments providing the needed Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The following link will display the steps taken and resources required in the development of the exams:
